Wine Review: This clear medium ruby colored Pinot Noir from Dutton Goldfield opens with a red plum and boysenberry bouquet with hints of red cherry, cedar, nutmeg. and root beer. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, super smooth, and bright. The flavor profile is blueberry and spiced black plum blend with notes of cherry and clove. We also detected some hints of birch beer. The finish is dry, and its flavors and moderate well-managed tannins stick around for quite some time. The Tasting Panel would pair this Pinot with a cassoulet with duck confit. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: Our more robust wines, like the Deviate, showcase the 2021 vintage with extra roundness and juiciness to balance their structure. The nose leads with brooding dusky plum, forest floor and incense. Time in the glass brings up redder fruit along with savory notes and a black tea element. In the mouth, the wine spreads out broadly. It’s deep and rich while fresh and lively, bursting with cherry, plum and pomegranate. The fruit is carried on a plush texture with fine tannins, giving the wine a sense of elegance enveloping the bold fruit. For pairings, continue the robust theme with braised meats in a savory sauce and cheeses like an aged Gouda, gruyere, or spunky Asiago.
