Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from Dutton Goldfield opens with a cedar and red raspberry bouquet with hints of cigar box and cherry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and fresh. The flavor profile is a stony minerality and gentle plum blend with notes of raspberry tea and tobacco. I also detected hints of cherry. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity and shy fine tannins fade away nicely. I would pair this Pinot Noir with coq au vin. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The long, even ripening at our coastal Marin site brought gorgeous depth and grace to this vintage of Azaya Ranch Pinot Noir. In the glass, its rich color hints at the complexity to come. Aromas of dark cherry, wild raspberry, and cranberry rise first, lifted by floral notes of cherry blossom and framed with warm hints of anise and baking spice. The palate follows through with layers of dark plum and tea leaf, grounded by Azaya's signature coastal freshness and fine, supple tannins. This is a wine that seamlessly balances richness and elegance, making it a versatile companion at the table. Pair it with savory dishes like duck breast with cherry-wine reduction or lean into its earthy side with a mushroom and goat cheese tart accented with thyme.
