Wine Review: This slightly opaque and dark ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a crushed stone, black cherry and blueberry bouquet with hints of violets. On the palate, this wine is medium plus, bodied, well-balanced, elegant and super smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty blueberry and black currant blend with notes of black raspberry and green tea. We also detected hints of minerality and gentle oak mixed in behind the fruit. The finish is dry and its flavors and moderate tannins are nicely prolonged. This wine would pair well with a veal chop. Winemaker Notes: 2017 1886 Ehlers Estate is deep red-purple in color with aromas of cassis, wild blackberries, licorice, herbs de Provence, cedar and tobacco leaf. The bright mouthfeel showcases flavors of cassis, dark cherries, sweet chocolate, black pepper and saffron, with a long mineral post-taste. Full body with silky tannins and a long finish. Enjoyable now but more pleasant to wait a few more years.
