Wine Review: This ink red colored Cabernet Sauvignon is a nice value offering from Excelsior. The wine opens with an earthy and musty bouquet that also includes hints of black raspberry, plum, black pepper and herbs. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and robust featuring ripe black cherry and black raspberry flavors. I also noted black licorice, herbs, spices and some hints of black olives and vanilla. The finish is quite dry, because of its tannins which are firm, dusty and youthful. As a result, this wine would benefit from some decanting. I would pair this South African Cabernet Sauvignon with beef stew. - Joe

Winemaker Notes: This crowd pleasing Cabernet delivers a serious bang for the buck! It displays ripe blackcurrant and dried herb characters on the nose, which are backed up with some spicy oak notes. The palate is smooth and soft, with beautiful ripe tannins and a long finish.
