Wine Review: What a concoction! This very dark opaque purple wine has 9 different grapes in the blend. It’s quite an intriguing blend that opens with a mild black raspberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, nicely balanced, and smooth. Yet it is a fruit bomb. The flavor profile is a very juicy ripe blackberry with a touch of boysenberry and black currant. There is a touch of oak in there behind the fruit as well. The finish is dry and its mild dusty tannins are slightly prolonged. This kitchen sink blend is very enjoyable. It would pair well with a rare roast beef or a pot roast. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: 6 years in the making... the quest to create "Cypher" originated from a Portuguese wine tasted by Christian that was big, tannic, and monstrous with a sexy mouth feel. "Cypher" is Christian’s version of the temptation he once tasted. Many of the Portuguese varietals in "Cypher" were planted by Four Vines in collaboration with our growers. These varietals include Teroldego, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Coa, Sousou, and Tinta Ruiz. The remaining varietals that make up Cypher are Zinfandel, Carignane, Petite Verdot and Petite Sirah. There are a whopping NINE varietals in one bottle. "Cypher" is young, but eventually will be a big, dark, tannic, and spicy beast in years to come.
