Wine Review: This dark red colored Chianti Classico Riserva opens with a faint plum and cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with nicely integrated acidity. The flavor profile is a tasty black currant with notes of mild cedar plank and stony minerality. I also detected hints of blackberry, tea, and a touch of Triple Sec in the aftertaste. The finish is rather dry, and its dusty tannins really coat your mouth. I would pair this Chianti Classico Riserva with a pasta Bolognese. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: Tenuta Perano 2016 Riserva immediately presents a brilliant ruby red color with violet reflections. Its bouquet is complex and intense. Floral scents, ranging from sweet violet to dog-rose immediately pervade the nose; fruity notes soon make their entrance, recalling blackcurrant and blueberry. Over time, the emphasis shifts to tertiary notes evoking nutmeg and black pepper, as well as cocoa powder. A balsamic sensation gives infinite elegance to the wine. It surprises in the mouth with its freshness, persistence and length. The tannic texture is dense, as is appropriate for Sangiovese from the most suitable soils. It closes with hints of noble tobacco and leather. The finish is long and harmonious.
