Wine Review: This clear and pale straw-colored dry-styled Riesling from Hillick & Hobbs opens with a very fragrant lime zest and ginger ale bouquet with hints of apricot pit, caramel apple, and stone dust. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, bright, and zesty. The flavor profile is lime and white grapefruit blend with notes of stony minerality, green tea, and tart green apple. I also detected hints of lemon verbena, saline, and a dash of white pepper. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity are quite refreshing. I would serve this Finger Lakes Riesling slightly chilled on the porch on a hot summer day. Then I would just sip it. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Our 2023 Riesling showcases brilliant pale straw tinged with an ethereal green hue. The nose, at first slatey and perfumed, gives rise to aromas of early season melon and fresh apricot with a whisper of white florals and marzipan. On the palate, vibrant Meyer lemon is dappled with fresh herbs and shortbread which seamlessly integrates with hints of flaky sea salt reminiscent of tidal pool minerality. The wine’s bright acidity delivers a firm, tensioned mouthfeel that gently tugs the palate on its way to a long, lingering finish.
