Wine Review: This ruby colored Pinot Noir from Oregon opens with a black raspberry and black plum bouquet with hints of cedar and teaberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth, and initially frisky. The flavor profile is blend of mild boysenberry and teaberry with notes of cedar and cinnamon stick. I also detected some hints of stone dust, dark cocoa, and black cherry-cola. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity are nicely extended. This Pinot benefits from a little aeration. I would decant it briefly before serving it with Jiko’s wild boar tenderloin. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: The Medici vineyard is situated on the south facing Chehalem Mountain slope, just a few miles east of the J. Christopher winery. The oldest blocks were planted in 1976, producing lovely, distinctive Pinot Noir and Riesling fruit. We took over the farming in 2015 and immediately converted it to organic viticulture. The old vines bring complexity and layers of minerality, with less of an emphasis on overt fruitiness, making this an ideal site for our style of winemaking.
