Wine Review: A lighter style Pinot Noir than typical of CA these days. In the glass, it’s a brilliant medium ruby color with a pleasant bouquet of wild strawberry, red cherry, violets, woodsy underbrush, vanilla oak and sweet dried herbs. It is fresh and bright on the palate, with a medium body, medium-plus acidity, and a smooth round mouthfeel. There are flavors of spiced red cherry, black raspberry, strawberry, clove, and an herbal note. I also detected hints anise and leather. The finish has a bit of heat, moderate but sticky tannins and it has good length. It went nicely with my deviled pork chops with baked apples. - Mark

Winemaker Notes: The 2018 J. Lohr Fog's Reach Pinot Noir expresses the varietal terroir of the Arroyo Seco region. This wine has a bright strawberry and blue sage on the nose with an abundance of red cherry and spice on the palate and finish. Pair with a wild mushroom polenta or a board of Spanish charcuterie.
