Wine Review: This hazy and dark ruby colored Cabernet Franc based blend from J. Lohr opens with a blackberry and candied violets bouquet with hints of black pepper and rose petals. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, rich and edgy with very good tension. The flavor profile is a stewed black plum and graphite blend with notes of black pepper and black licorice. We also detected hints of black tea and oak. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and grippy tannins build-up and stick around for a while. We would pair this red blend with a well-marbled ribeye. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The inspiration for our J. Lohr Cuvée St. E comes from the Grand Cru wines of St. Émilion on Bordeaux’s famed Right Bank. The 2022 features sophisticated blueberry and boysenberry compote aromas fold together with cacao nib, fresh brewed espresso, and thyme. On the palate, juicy black cherry flavors wrap around a dusty tannin core leading to a long, pleasing finish.
