Wine Review: This opaque and deep ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon from J. Lohr is for readers who like full throttle wines. It opens with a fragrant cassis and black cherry bouquet with hints of licorice, tobacco, and violet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, smooth, and dense. The flavor profile is an extracted black cherry and graphite blend with notes of black tea and cassis. I also detected hints of cedar, cocoa, tobacco, and clove. The finish is dry and its flavors, acidity, and bold and dusty tannins stick around for quite a while. I would pair this big boy Cab with a well-marbled ribeye steak. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Displays delightful blackberry and blueberry compote aromas garnished with crushed violet, cracked pepper, and black tea. Plump fruit on the palate with attuned tannins. Juicy layers of black and red currants lead to a bright finish accented by pastry notes from the French oak aging. Delicious with a rosemary-seasoned ribeye steak with garlic roasted potatoes.
