Wine Review: This clear and very dark ruby colored Merlot from J. Lohr is a very good value. It opens with a black raspberry and plum bouquet with hints of dried coconut. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, round, seamless, and very approachable. The flavor profile is a mulberry and graphite blend with notes of stewed black plum and black tea. I also detected hints of dried cherry, oak, and candied violets. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and gentle tannins drift away nicely. I would pair this food friendly and versatile Merlot with your favorite burger off the grill. Enjoy - Ken
