Wine Review: This slightly hazy dark cherry colored Châteauneuf-du-Pape from M. Chapoutier opens with a mild black cherry and gentle black currant bouquet with hints of black currant. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth, gentle, and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a baking spice, black cherry, and stone dust blend with notes of stewed plum and smoky oak. I also detected hints of black pepper, red licorice, and tobacco. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and fine tannins fade away nicely. I would pair this food friendly CDP with a grilled veal chop. Enjoy - Ken
