Wine Review: This deep salmon colored Nero d'Avola based Rosé wine from Martha Stoumen looks like a wine from Tavel. It opens with a strawberry and lime zest bouquet with hints of pink grapefruit and watermelon. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, gentle, and smooth. The flavor profile is watermelon and maraschino cherry blend with notes of grenadine and saline. We also detected hints of ginger ale. The finish is off-dry, and its flavors and acidity drift away nicely. We would pair this Rosé with Rick's shrimp cocktail.
Winemaker Notes: As you'll likely notice from color alone, Nero d'Avola Rosato NV No. 2 is certainly no wallflower. The dry-farmed vines at Bricarelli Ranch bring a concentration unlike any other. The result? A wine with an expressive nose, sumptuous body, and strawberry rhubarb-like sweetness.
