Wine Review: This opaque and deep purple colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Mauritson opens with a black cherry and saddle leather bouquet with hints of violet, black licorice, and stone dust. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, dense, structured, and has nice tension. The flavor profile is a black currant and black licorice blend with notes of graphite and black cherry. We also detected hints of oak, black tea, and blackberry. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and well-managed moderate grippy tannins are nicely sustained. We would pair this Cab with grilled hanger steak or with a New York strip steak.
