Wine Review: This slightly hazy and medium ruby colored Zinfandel from Mauritson opens with a black pepper and dark cherry bouquet with hints of oak, iris, blackberry, and a touch of fruitcake. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and savory. The flavor profile is a marionberry and tobacco blend with notes of cinnamon and strawberry licorice. We also detected hints of cedar, black pepper, and raspberry. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and moderate tannins drift away nicely. We would pair this Zin with a leg of lamb or with a bacon and blue cheeseburger. Enjoy - KWGTP
