Wine Review: This hazy medium purple Petite Sirah and Zinfandel based blend is excellent. It opens with a shy and reserved black raspberry bouquet with hints of old leather book and clove. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is well-balanced, round, layered, and has a lot of really good tension. The flavor profile is a boysenberry and stewed black plum blend with notes of pomegranate and oak. We also detected some hints of stone dust and tobacco mixed in. The finish is dry, and its moderate dusty tannins are very nicely sustained. This was very well-like by those of us that tried it. We would pair this red blend with braised short ribs or with grandma’s lasagna. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Our 2024 Madrone Spring opens with gorgeous aromas of candied blueberry compote, lifted dark cherry, and dried savory herbs, with refined undertones of crushed anise and sweet loam. An inviting, energetic entry unfolds into a richly layered mid-palate, brimming with generous dark fruit. A long and youthful finish lingers, hinting at the remarkable evolution yet to come. This beautiful Rockpile blend will benefit from at least 12 months of additional bottle age and is best enjoyed over the next 7+ years.
