Wine Review: This dark red colored Sangiovese opens with a fragrant and attractive new leather and maraschino cherry bouquet with hints of blueberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is rounded and balanced. The flavor profile is a toasted oak influenced juicy red plum, cranberry, and graphite blend with notes of red currant and oolong tea. There are hints of black cherry and cinnamon in the aftertaste. The finish is dry and its flavors and dusty tannins linger and last for a while. This Chianti Classico Gran Selezione benefits tremendously from aeration, so be sure to decant it for an hour before serving it with veal saltimbocca with prosciutto and sage. Enjoy - Ken
