Wine Review: This medium garnet colored Sangiovese from Mazzei is very good. It opens with an inviting cedar and cherry bouquet with notes of moist pipe tobacco. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. I also found it to be balanced and round. The flavor profile is a tart cherry and cedar blend with nicely integrated crushed stone minerality. I also detected notes of strawberry with hints of red raspberry, herbal tea, marjoram and black pepper. The finish is dry and its medium tannins are nicely extended. I would pair this very good "Chianti Classico Riserva" with Rachael Ray's veal parmigiana. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: Ruby red color with violet nuances. On the nose, bright aromas of fresh berries mingle with notes of thyme and a subtle smoky character. There is some strong acid structure that provides a lively quality. It has an intense taste, featuring raspberry and red cherry that dominate with hints of cedar and cocoa powder. Some earthiness in the finish and ripe tannins. Pair with pasta with game sauce, stews, grilled red meats and mid-aged cheese.
