Wine Review: This deep purple colored Cabernet Sauvignon from McPrice Myers opens with an iron filings and black currant bouquet with hints of cigar box and blackberry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, polished, smooth, and lush. The flavor profile is a stewed black plum, stone dust, and dried herbs blend with notes of chocolate truffle and blueberry. I also detected hints of cedar, muddled fresh mint, and a dash of black pepper. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and its moderate dusty tannins are nicely sustained. There is a touch of heat at the very end, but it does not distract. I would pair this very good Cab from Paso Robles with a Capital Grille’s Kona-crusted dry aged bone-in New York strip steak with shallot butter. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Roasted black cherries, marionberry, crème de cassis, cardamom, lavender flower, curing tobacco leaf, cedar cigar box, pencil shavings, Tahitian vanilla, espresso bean, chocolate truffle, muddled spearmint, star anise, braised venison, birchwood smoke. Warm, inviting spices, deep and lavish, suave fruits; astutely poised in a polished and deliberate finish.
