Wine Review: This deep ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon based blend from McPrice Myers opens with a mild prune and currant bouquet with hints of craisin and fig. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, bright, and zesty. The flavor profile is a boysenberry, stone dust, and dark chocolate blend with notes of Chinese five spice and red raspberry tea. I also detected hints of black cherry compote. The finish is dry, and its flavors, bright acidity, and medium tannins linger and last for a while. This wine benefits from a little aeration. I would pair this red blend with well steak fajitas. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: High on the Hog is a wine you can drink for any occasion. Around the holiday dinner table in the Myers house, my grandmother would always look proudly around at her family all gathered around the dishes piled high with food, and say, “We are really living high on the hog, aren’t we?” This blend is in memory of my Grandma and her joy at seeing the family doing well.
