Wine Review: This dark red colored Dolcetto from Mengler opens with an inviting dark cherry and wet clay bouquet with hints of cedar, black licorice, and black tea. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied and balanced. The flavor profile is a tasty graphite and red plum blend with notes of cedar and licorice. We also detected hints of oolong tea and cherry. The finish is rather dry, and its flavors, acidity, and dusty tannins build-up and stick around for a very long time. I would pair this Dolcetto with Italian briciole. Enjoy - Ken & Mark
Winemaker Notes: Clear, deep garnet. Black plum, pomegranate, licorice. Low acids, low tannins. White pepper. Medium balanced finish. Very flexible wine. Enjoyable by the glass or with a meal. Pairs perfectly with a broad range of foods, especially with red sauces.
