Wine Review: This hazy deep ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Gloeckner-Turner Ranch in Rockpile is a big boy. It opens with a black cherry and peppermint bouquet with hints of black currant and coffee. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth, and dense. The flavor profile is intense and concentrated boysenberry and tobacco blend with notes of stony minerality and black plum. We also detected hints of oolong tea, loam, and black licorice. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and dusty and grippy tannins build-up and last for quite a while. This Cabernet Sauvignon could benefit from some additional time in cellar. If you can’t wait, decant it for a while before pairing with a well-marbled ribeye. Enjoy - KWGTP
