Wine Review: This hazy deep ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon from the Gloeckner-Turner Ranch in Rockpile is a big boy. It opens with a black cherry and peppermint bouquet with hints of black currant and coffee. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth, and dense. The flavor profile is intense and concentrated boysenberry and tobacco blend with notes of stony minerality and black plum. We also detected hints of oolong tea, loam, and black licorice. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and dusty and grippy tannins build-up and last for quite a while. This Cabernet Sauvignon could benefit from some additional time in cellar. If you can’t wait, decant it for a while before pairing with a well-marbled ribeye. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: The Rockpile Cabernet Sauvignon is a bold, age-worthy wine that continues to evolve over time. Aged for 24 months in French oak barrels, this full-bodied red reveals a harmonious blend of primary and mature flavors. Rich notes of blackberry and plum are complemented by unexpected nuances of caramel, toasted wheat, and barley. A perfect match for a juicy tomahawk steak, this wine offers a memorable pairing experience.
