Wine Review: This slightly cloudy and dark garnet colored Merlot from Merriam opens with a cinnamon and red cherry bouquet with hints of red plum and oolong tea. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, fresh, and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is loganberry and red licorice blend with notes of cedar and mild boysenberry. We also detected hints of stony minerality, crispy bacon, and oolong tea. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and moderate dusty tannins linger for a while. We would pair this Merlot with pork tenderloin. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The brick-red hue of Windacre Merlot promises a savory, layered sip. This wine evolves gracefully over the years, initially offering notes of cedar, clove, and spices that gradually transition into a blend of cigar box and stewed blackberries and raspberries. The 2021 vintage highlights the pure essence of Merlot, showcasing it as a 100% varietal and revealing the intricate, natural flavors inherent to the grape.
