Wine Review: This slightly cloudy and very dark ruby colored Syrah from Meyer Family opens with a currant and black cherry bouquet with hints of toffee and oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and savory. The flavor profile is a slightly tart black plum, oak, and black pepper blend with notes of stony minerality and currant. We also detected some hints of toffee, blueberry, and clove. The finish is dry and its flavors, acidity, and mild tannins drift away nicely. The Tasting Panel would pair this Syrah with a marinated grilled hanger steak, sausage stuffed mushrooms, or braised short ribs. Enjoy - KWGTP
