Wine Review: This hazy and ruby colored Lagrein from Muri Gries is a great value. It opens with a blackberry and violet bouquet with hints of stone dust, toasted pecan, and cherry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and seamless. The flavor profile is mild black raspberry tea and graphite blend with notes of tobacco and black plum. I also detected hints of black pepper, black cherry, and oak. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and fine stone dust tannins drift away nicely. I would pair this Lagrein with a venison steak with a blackberry wine sauce. Enjoy - Ken
