Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Côtes du Rhône from Ogier is a very good mid-week offering. It opens with a mild boysenberry and violet bouquet with hints of leather and black cherry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth and a little zesty. The flavor profile is a blackberry and anise blend with notes of black pepper and stony minerality. I also detected hints of oak, black olive, and black tea. The finish is dry, and its flavors, tingly acidity and well manage moderate tannins linger nicely. I would pair this food friendly Côtes du Rhône with your favorite burger off the grill. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: This is exactly how we like our Côtes du Rhône: honest and upfront. The ripe fruits dominate, complemented by a fresh and zesty side. Quite a character!
