Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Merlot based blend from Once & Future is named after his mother. It opens with a fruit cake, red raspberry, and cinnamon bouquet with hints wild strawberry, violet and pencil shavings. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, and opulent. The flavor profile is a tasty gentle mulberry, cinnamon stick, black pepper, and blackberry blend with notes of cedar and black cherry-cola. We also detected a hint of slightly tart cranberry. The finish is dry, and its well-managed moderate tannins stick around for quite some time. The Tasting Panel would pair this young red blend with a grilled hanger steak or Roy's rib roast. Enjoy – KWGTP
