Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Zinfandel from Once and Future opens with a boysenberry and cranberry bouquet with hints of dried strawberry, cedar, and roses. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, polished, and seamless. The flavor profile is black plum and nutmeg blend with notes of tobacco, cinnamon tea, and cedar. We also detected hints of blackberry and fine stony minerality. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and moderate dusty tannins linger nicely. We would pair this Zin with lamb lollipops or with grilled Italian sweet sausages with a marinara sauce.
