Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Zinfandel from Once and Future opens with a fragrant boysenberry and rose petal bouquet with hints of black plum, stone dust, and leather. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, silky, graceful, and very easy drinking. The flavor profile is black plum and black tea blend with notes of boysenberry and stony minerality. We also detected hints of cedar, tobacco, and a touch of black raspberry. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and dusty tannins linger nicely. We would enjoy this Zin on its own. With food, we would pair it with lamb lollipops or with barbecue beef brisket.
