Wine Review: This dark red colored Syrah from Optik opens with a forest floor and black licorice bouquet with hints of black pepper and smoked meat. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and savory. The flavor profile is a black licorice and black pepper blend with notes of smoky oak and blackberry. We also detected hints of red raspberry and oolong tea. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and medium refined tannins are nicely extended. We would pair this Syrah with a beef bourguignon or your favorite blue cheese. Enjoy - KWGTP
