Wine Review: I don't often get to try a sparkling red, so this was fun to taste! In the glass it is an inky garnet color, so I could not see the bubbles. A complex nose included bramble, dark raspberry, raisin and musty leather aromas. On the palate it is concentrated, medium bodied, medium acidity, and is creamy and rich. There are dark flavors of black plum, stewed prune, Bing cherry, dark chocolate along with notes of thyme and clove. There are fine grained tannins and a moderate length finish. This would go well with roast game bird or turkey with savory stuffing. - Mark

Winemaker Notes: A deep mauve in color with a crimson hue. The nose is complex and earthy: rich leather, prunes, caramelized dates, coffee, black currant, meaty, wine gums and some toasty brown spice. These aromas are supported on the palate by red berries, plums and chocolate. The ripe fruits and chocolate mingle on the creamy palate. Saucy, savory characters add to the complexity with balanced tannins and sweetness to help round off the finish. Best served icy cold in a flute glass. Can be enjoyed with bacon and eggs for breakfast or turkey with cranberry sauce at lunch or a medium spiced curry for dinner.
