Wine Review: This dark purple colored Syrah from Pax from the Walker Hill Vineyard and Griffin's Lair Vineyards opens with a black raspberry pie and wet stone bouquet with hints of cassis, and licorice. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, fresh and yet concentrated. The flavor profile is a layered blend of blackberry tea and black pepper with notes of crushed stone, and mild black licorice. We also detected some hints of gentle black olive, marionberry and a dash of black pepper. The finish is dry, and its dusty tannins stick around for a very long time. The Tasting Panel would pair this Syrah with charcuterie platter or with a rich hunter's stew. Enjoy – KWGTP
