Wine Review: This very dark garnet colored Zinfandel from Pedroncelli is a big boy wine. It opens with a brambleberry bouquet with hints of dried coconut flakes and cedar. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, dense, and concentrated. The flavor profile is a blackberry and anise blend with notes of juicy black plum, graphite, and black tea. I also detected hints of black cherry and faint tobacco. The finish is pretty dry, and its flavors, acidity, and dusty tannins stick around for quite some time. There is also a touch of heat that is present as well. I would pair this full throttle Zin with a messy rack of ribs. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Inviting aromas of ripe dark fruit, cinnamon, pepper, and toasted oak. These are complemented by flavors of raspberry, cola, nutmeg, and vanilla notes. A spicy and medium-bodied Zinfandel with a long peppery finish and great balance between the fruit, acidity, and firm tannins.
