Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Cabernet and Syrah blend from Ferrari Carano is very good and quite different. It opens with a fragrant black raspberry bouquet with hints of mahogany and cherry-cola. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with plus acidity. The flavor profile is unique as well. It features sarsaparilla, black currant and black cherry with notes of oak, mocha, and black licorice. I also detected some hints of bay leaf, rhubarb, minerality and black pepper towards the end. The finish is very dry and its bold dusty tannins stick around for a very long time. This big boy wine still needs some time to develop. In the near term, I would suggest decanting it for at least an hour and then pairing it with slow cooked rib roast. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: PreVail West Face is a delicious, full-bodied wine with lush aromas and flavors of blackberry, plums, bacon, dried blueberries, cassis, milk chocolate, vanilla, and cedar with a touch of leather on the finish. Fleshy and full, this wine has exquisite depth and lingering, firm tannins providing textural proof of this wine's age ability. PreVail West Face pairs well with braised, roasted or barbecued meats.
