Wine Review: This opaque and midnight purple colored Red Blend from Quinta do Portal in Portugal opens with a blueberry bouquet with hints of cherry and gentle tobacco leaf. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth, and solid. The flavor profile is a blackberry and fig blend with notes of tobacco and candied violet. I also detected hints of blueberry, oak, and stone dust. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and medium tannins drift away nicely. I would pair this red blend with slow cooked burnt ends. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Concentrated ruby color with aromas of ripe black fruit and some floral notes in perfect harmony with some toast from the oak. Expressive on the palate, it has lovely acidity and a pleasant fruity and toasty aftertaste. The final is long and complex, and it will develop further with more time in bottle.
