Wine Review: This clear and light red colored Sangiovese from Raffaldini opens with a teaberry gum and red cherry bouquet with hints of spice. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, fresh, and zesty. The flavor profile is a spiced black plum and red cherry blend with notes of oak and teaberry. I also detected hints of black pepper and black licorice. The finish is dry, and its flavors, tingly acidity, and moderate tannins linger nicely. I would pair this Sangiovese with a salmon burger. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: We use an Italian technique called Ripasso which utilizes grape skins that have been dried for other wines and "repass" the fresh wine over the skins to further deepen the wine. This wine is light and elegant with plenty of fresh red fruit and floral notes.
