Wine Review: This pale red colored Cabernet Franc from Red Newt opens with a faint Maraschino cherry and strawberry bouquet with hints of cranberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and round. The flavor profile is a crushed stone and red plum blend with notes of chewing tobacco, cranberry and red bell pepper. We also detected hints of oregano. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins stick around for quite a while. We would suggest pairing this Finger Lakes Cab Franc with your favorite burrito. Winemaker Notes: The 2018 Cabernet Franc focuses on the pure expression of the fruit. We used stainless vs. oak. It features bright cherry and violet on the nose underlain by mineral tones on the mid-palate. Refreshing to drink.
