Wine Review: This pitch-black colored Malbec from Caymus' Red Schooner opens with a ripe boysenberry, cola, and dark chocolate bouquet with hints of marionberry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, concentrated, and rich. The flavor profile is boysenberry and cinnamon blend with notes of black cherry and vanilla. We also detected hints of tobacco, lingonberry, and oak. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and moderate tannins drift away nicely. We would pair this Malbec with duck confit. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Grapes for this Malbec are grown in the Andes Mountains of Argentina, then chilled and transported by ocean voyage to Caymus, where we use our winemaking techniques to create a style that is dense, dark and supple. Falling outside standard labeling rules, Red Schooner does not include a vintage date but is known by the voyage from which it traveled (i.e. Voyage 12 is the 2022 vintage). Strikingly smooth, with scents and flavors of dark fruit and fine, textural tannins.
