Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Barbera from Renato Ratti is very good. It opens with a black rubber and matchstick bouquet with a hint of black licorice. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, slightly acidic, juicy and fruit forward. The flavor profile is an oak influenced macerated black cherry with hints of espresso, faint minerality and black plum. The finish is dry and its flavors and faint tannins drift away nicely. This Barbera is food friendly and would pair well with Peking Duck. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: Intense red in the glass with a delicious bouquet of ripe fruit hinting at an undercurrent of pepper spices. Flavorful, pleasing and elegant with good persistence.
