Wine Review: This deep purple colored Zinfandel from Rockpile opens with a blackberry and old leather bouquet with hints of dried herbs. On the palate, this wine medium plus bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is very nicely balanced, soft, and very smooth. The flavor profile is a gentle blackberry and mild black licorice blend with notes of oak, dark chocolate, and fine grained stony minerality. We also detected hints of black tea and black pepper in the mix. The finish is dry, and its refined tannins are nicely extended. This is a very food friendly Zin and would pair well with a steak with Burgundy mushroom sauce. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: Our 2019 Rockpile Ridge Zinfandel carries all of the signature aromas expected from Zinfandel grown in Rockpile: candied cherry and plum; dark cocoa; ground roasted coffee; savory dried herbs and sweet earth. This incredible iteration of Rockpile Ridge Zinfandel is singularly defined by its detailed texture. It's vibrant, yet concentrated; elegant, yet bold; velvety, yet powerful. Then it ultimately resolves into a seamless and persistent finish. This energetic Zin will benefit from at least 1-2 years of bottle age. Enjoy over the next 10-12 years.
