Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Cabernet Sauvignon based wine from Rodney Strong is very impressive. It opens with a pleasant mild boysenberry and faint leather bouquet with a hint of black cherry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, well-balanced and nicely coats your mouth. The flavor profile is a tasty mild black currant with notes of fine-grained minerality. I also detected hints of black tea, black cherry and some oak. The finish displays rather sticky dusty tannins that linger for a very long time. The elegance of the 2014 vintage is definitely present in this wine. However, its finish makes it stand above most. I would decant this wine and then serve it with a New York strip steak in the near term. Enjoy - Ken
