Wine Review: This clear pale straw colored Chardonnay from Rodney Strong is for oak lovers. It opens with a banana and pear bouquet with hints of pineapple and marshmallow. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced and round. The flavor profile is an oak influenced Anjou pear and toasted coconut blend with notes of lemon verbena and butterscotch. I also detected hints of pineapple, white pepper, and green tea. The finish is dry and its flavors and acidity drift away nicely. The oak loving Chard fans that tried this wine, loved it. It did not last long. With food, I would pair this Chard with a chicken and wild mushroom ravioli with a mild butter and sage cream sauce. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: An energetic expression of the Russian River Valley showing bright yellow peach and yuzu citrus aromas. On the palate, just ripe bartlett pears with a kiss of creme brulee from sur lie aging in carefully selected French oak barrels. Soft acidity uplifts the wine's full, creamy midpalate. Enjoy this Chardonnay with soft cheese or with a roasted chicken.
