Wine Review: This wine was my favorite wine from a mini blind tasting of Syrah that I recently conducted. It is very opaque and very dark purple colored. It opens with an appealing and attractive mild black raspberry bouquet with a hint of blueberry and vanilla. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and very smooth. The flavor profile is a ripe blueberry with notes of oak and spices mixed in. The finish is dry and its substantial tannins build in your mouth for quite a while. In the short run this wine needs fat, so pair it with pot roast or prime rib. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: This small production Syrah from Snows Lake Vineyard is the first of what will be many to come. This first offering is dark and intense. Full-bodied, the bouquet is filled with aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, ripe plum, lavender, smoke and spice. These flavors are carried through on the palate, and are complimented by the wines chewy but round tannins. The tannins are already well integrated and balance nicely with the wine’s acidity. This Syrah would compliment many hearty dishes. In particular it would pair well with roasted rack of lamb, grilled pork sausages or duck cassoulet.
