Wine Review: In the glass, this Italian red blend made with 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon from Bolgheri is a clear deep ruby color and has a very fragrant bouquet of ripe black plum, eucalyptus, black currant, tobacco leaf and iris. Quite robust on the palate, it has a very smooth and soft mouthfeel, is balanced, medium-plus bodied, medium-plus acidity and good structure. There are flavors of dark cherry, anise, black currant, vanilla oak, black tea, and pepper. It closes with a long dry finish displaying firm tannins and slight bitter note at the end. Decant for 30 minutes and pair with Tuscan black pepper beef stew. - Mark
