Wine Review: This clear and yellow gold colored Chardonnay from Saxon Brown opens with a bread dough, pear, and light pineapple bouquet with hints of oak and green apple. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and a little zesty. The flavor profile is a mild Anjou pear and chalky minerality blend with notes of spice, pineapple, and almond. We also detected hints of gentle oak, white tea, and caramel green apple. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity linger nicely. We would pair this easy to drink Chard with Ritz Cracker crusted baked cod. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This bottling from one of our favorite vineyards reminds us very much of the wines of Pugliny-Montrachet, offering up all the intense aromatics, rich mouthfeel, bracing minerality and structural elegance you could want. Our 2023 Roberts Road Chardonnay offers up juicy honeysuckle, orange rind and lemon curd notes that gain complexity on the palate with the emergence of wet stone, white peach and a sweet roasted grain richness that hints of just baked apple tart. Bright acidity adds buoyancy to the long complex finish.
