Wine Review: This pale salmon colored sparkler from Scharffenberger hails from Mendocino County. It is a blend of 55% Chardonnay and 45% Pinot Noir and has delicate streaming small bubbles. Its bouquet shows aromas of red raspberry, yeasty bread dough, peach blossom, and lemon zest. The palate has a lovely mousse, and is lightly creamy, with a medium-minus body and medium plus acidity. The wine is fresh, slightly lean, and finessed. I found flavors of red raspberry, tart lemon curd, toasted sourdough, and crushed stone with notes of strawberry and toasted hazelnut. The lingering finish is bright and clean. Serve lightly chilled with oysters on the half-shell. - Mark
Winemaker Notes: The wine has a pale salmon hue with integrated aromas of fresh raspberry jam and wild strawberries on a cream-covered pastry base. The flavors are layered, round, fresh, fruity and long.
