Wine Review: This very slightly hazy and pale ruby colored Pinot Noir from Sojourn opens with a red cherry and lingonberry bouquet with hints of raspberry tea and teaberry gum. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is well balanced, rather smooth, seamless, and delicate. The flavor profile is a red cherry and red raspberry tea blend with notes of red licorice and cola. I also detected hints of loam and cinnamon. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and very fine tannins fade away nicely. I would pair this finesse Pinot Noir with a pork tenderloin with sage and brown butter sauce. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: In a hot vintage, Gap’s Crown is a very interesting place for Pinot Noir. The 2024 vintage offers exceptional depth, and intensity yet is perhaps a tad lighter in flavor profile than vintages past. Key clones of this vintage are 667 and 828. 828 thrives in a warmer vintage and offers depth and structure. It is a nice complement to the protected 667 clone that prefers the shade and offers a lighter flavor profile. The finished wine offers flavors that are robust with aromas of dark berry and cherry and hints of baking spice.
