Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Syrah from Spottswoode opens with a blackberry and fig bouquet with hints of black licorice, molasses, and prune. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with notes of medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and savory. The flavor profile is tart prune and mulberry blend with notes of cola and black cherry. We also pick up some hints of menthol and cinnamon. The finish is dry, and its mild tannins and flavors fade nicely. The Tasting Panel would pair this Syrah with beef bourguignon. Enjoy – KWGTP. (Club Members only wine)
