Wine Review: This hazy ruby colored Merlot from Stags' Leap Winery opens with a cinnamon and black cherry bouquet with hints of red licorice, violets, tobacco leaf, and blackberry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a juicy black plum, black pepper, and mild cedar blend with notes of graphite and cranberry. We also detected hints of licorice, black tea, and tobacco. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and medium dusty tannins linger nicely. This Merlot benefits from some aeration. We would decant it for a little while in the near term before pairing it with a Kona coffee encrusted sirloin steak or with braised oxtail. Enjoy - KWGTP
